Promising Pitfalls

There are 4 things that I regretted the most throughout my time at SDSU.

1)    Not being able to attend as many networking events as I hoped to attend.

2)    Not being able to join a student organization.

3)    Not being able to go to as many info sessions as I hoped to attend.

4)    Not winning the senior final HTM 490 project.

All 3 reasons had one thing in common, being very overwhelmed with working part time, and attending school full time. My last semester at SDSU, especially now has been the craziest semester for me. Not only I am employed part time, but I also am taking 8 classes all at once. I don’t necessarily regret taking so many classes and working at once, but I do regret missing out on the opportunities I would have gained from attending more networking events, joining a club and attending more info sessions. All 3 reasons are such huge factors to every students’ success; therefore, I definitely recommend for future students to be able to find more time to do things that will benefit them professionally. It is easy to say “I can manage my time”, but it is easier said than done. Although it is every students’ struggle to balance their time to work, complete internship hours, study for exams, completing homework, and finding some sort of time for a social life, but I do believe that doing these things early on throughout anybody’s career will benefit them tremendously. All in all, I can say that I am definitely proud of who I am today and what this program made me become, but I hope to remind myself that everyone has regrets that they wish they could have done or changed if the time were to rewind. I am thankful that this program has such amazing tools and resources for students to use, so I definitely recommend anyone who is reading my post to take advantage and learn from my mistakes as much as possible!
